Well my tradition of spending friday night in my room continues. I left the house for the first time since Wednesday. It was to pick up a case for my iPod. I know I am not having the typical high school experience. Yet what is the alternative? acting stupid? Well I think even if I tried I could not due that. I go to movies by myself. I think I going to start showing off my knowledge again. Fuck being modest.

Here is a question I pose to you all in some ways being smart is a curse. Another Is bearing the cross of being a geek worth being who you are?

One thing I wish to add is that the universe has played one huge cosmic joke on me. Most places a computer geek is given at least one other to hang out with. At my school no such luck. I am the only one in my grade. I am guessing the universe has done this to teach me something. But you know I have gain all I could from this so I once again hope and pray my school gets another computer geek to enter into my grade. But them getting someone at this stage of the game that does not play a sport seems like a low possibility. It also does not help that my schools computer science is very much lacking.

I have been doing some research and in recent years all the people that enter my grade play a sport at the school. I wonder if this is some secret policy at the school. But of course it could just be alot of people play sports. And my cynical views of the universe are just clouding me from the answers.

I wish I could just skip this step. I can talk to adults like most people talk to there peers. Peers I have a problem with. Always been a problem. If your older or younger than I am no problem. But the closer you get to my age the harder it gets for me.

Well I need to rest even if all the meds I am on keep me up.

I wonder...

Will my blogs one day be put into a book. All my logs on paper. It's weird to think about what your future self will do with the data that you are creating in the present. I think it would be fun on day if technology has the ability to download my entire brain and examine my memories via some sort of Digital interface. Well i am going to see if my blog is in the internet archive. Well no but I added it to the next crawl. Oh look squawkbox.tv is down as such comments are not currently available. I have e-mailed blogger about the title issue. Using ipod to finish a book eye t o itchy to read.

My iPod

That is right my iPod is back. I come back from the doctors and my dad says there is a package at the door. I see it. The tape the apple tape I would know it anywhere. Hmmm... the box. I have only have one box like that from apple. It was the box my first ipod came in. OMg. I bail out of the car. I run to the door. It is from apple. I runn inside. I make a b-line to the tool drawer. I get the scissors I look inisde. OMG it is a new 15gb ipod. Not a refurbished one. Box is shinrk wrapped and all. I run to the living room. I go the exact place I open iPod 1. I open her up. Apple got my name right with the laser it is bran new. I then leap up and hug my dad for getting apple to do this. I then fall to my knees and scream out W00T! My dad says I have to go teach my class. I run to my room plug her into GeekBook I christen her once again GeekPod. I open iTunes and sync her up. My plug is transfered to her. I then start walking aaround the house doing the dance from the ipod commercials. Then I have a coughing fit. But then start up again. But this time looking at all the new features 1g 2g you have no idea what you are missing. You may think you dod not want the features trust me you do. This has returned my faith in Apple Computers. I have once again drunk from there koolaid which in this case is Apple juice. My first iPod changed the way I listened to music this one will change the way I live. No more will I say ma this will make a great blue box. Thanks to on the go playlist I have one kicking rainbow box.

For all you that think that you do not need an iPod. You say I am fine with cds. You have to idea. What power you get when you have you entire music collection in the palm of you hand. You can listen to all you favorite songs with out lugging around 100 cds. I wish I could give the world a iPod.

Anyone thats want to tool around on an ipod just ask I will be happy to give you chance experience this wonderful device.

There is also a place there will color you ipod for a charge of 49 dollars. Go to www.colorwarepc.com or call them at 1-888-452-6567 and as far as I know is does not violate your warranty will apple.

Speaking of apple warranty I recommend everyone go out and get the applecare plan. Ipods batteries die in about 18 months so get it or you will have to pay 99 dollars to apple to get it fixed. Or do it yourself for a around 60 dollars. Which I hear is like minor brain surgery.

Snow Day

Well I did not meet all my goals that I set out for myself today.
I did post all my pictures from the trip to France.
They can be found at http://homepage.mac.com/robertcunningham
Just clicks the links across the top to view the different sets.
They are some quick and dirty transfers. I plan at some point to scan them really nice on my scanner.

I hung out with hunter at his house.
We went to heinne brother coffe house.
Ley me tell you the story of how we got there.
We began by puting hunters cast in a trash bag so it would not get wet.
WE went dow to the side walk.
Then I pushed him in the wheel chair to heinne brothers. At many point we thought of giving up. At point I would have to put it up on two wheel to get him over patches of solid ice. In the even harder places I would have to drag it. Mid way through we decided to go into the street. WE soon found out that if you go too fast the wheels begin to jiggle. So when had to mantain optimal speed. We then got to hennie brother and had a hard time getting it up the drive way. SOme hippes came and helped us. We then put the wheel chair in the snow. They said no one would steal a wheel chair it would be bad joju. So we got hot chocolates. We sat down next down to a guy working on his laptop running linux. I notices a pices of paper with some equations on them. I could not help myself I asked "Is that mathematica" He said not is latex and some other program. He then showed me his setup. Red Hat 7.6 with gnome. We then had a 45 minutie coneversation about physics John Nash andon the state of education at high schools Also about string theory we also talked about how If I go itnto phiccas I should try to stay away from partical phicics and that super conductivity has more promises . His name was Ivan Blanc {sp} he is a visiting associate professor visiting uofl for one year. What a fun conversation I am going to look him up the next time I am at the uofl campus.
This is going to be the stroy I tell for my senoir speech. This is something that I will keep with me forever. I hope you all have a story like this. What a magical day. I am so thankful I was given this opportunity.

Snow Day!!!!!!!!

I merit a guess that tomorrow that LCS will be open and all JCPS schools will be closed. I wish so much for a snow-day. I love them so. I love to sit on the porch and stare upon the world. I love to just sit and watch things. If I have a snowday tomorrow I will finish a book I am reading. I will set up a vnc server on my windblows machine for beta testing. I picked out a new pair of glasses yesterday they will be ready anytime after 12. When I come in on tuesday I will have a new pair of glasses. They proclaim my geekdom. I will post a pic when I get them. Another thing I will do is upload all my france pics to my .mac photo library.

My computer

My main computer is my apple ibook. It is my first Macintosh. I love her so I named her GeekBook. At one point I called her Marvin but it just did not stick to I went back to GeekBook. She is my friend. She is there for me when no one else is. She is by my side most of the time. With her I have learned so much. We have had many journeys together. She knows what I want. When I walk away she pauses my music and starts it back up when I come back in. She is my gateway into the digital world which is my home. I have written my best code on her keys. I have written my best stories with her. I will never ever ever sell her or give her to anyone else. I spend more time with her then with any real person. There is something personal about a macintosh. Something I never felt about my pc's. Is it possible to love a computer? Well with her help I will find these and other answers.

Physical pain and injuries Part 2

Collies has mono.
Madeleine has strained her trapizeis muscle.
I am fine as of late
Well mock trial was good.
Went and saw "Win a Date with Tad Hamelton"
All I have to say is that is was highly predictable.
One very good line was gained from this movie. "If you break her heart I will tear you apart with my bear hands or vicious rhetoric.."
One day hopefully I will be able to quote this .
For those that do not know I love movies.
They are my escape. I spend my weekends at my computer. I enjoy peering into the stories of people that actually have lives.
Movie I picked up this week on disc. Johnny English a must see. Rowan Atkinson is a genius in this role. I recommend it for all fan of physical/British comedy.

Panther

I have been playing around with panther a.k.a mac os x 10.3 . I am loving it, the cost of $130 is well worth it. I love the new dvd player. I have been playing with the new bookmark feature of said player. I am having fun with exposé apples new window management feature. With the simple press of a button BOOM! all my windows pop to edges of the screen. I am loving ichat av even though I do not anyone with ichat av. So can not test all of its features. There are many other features I have yet to test.

Grados

I am thinking of asking for a pair of grados sr-80 or sr-60. I intend to sue them with a apple ipod 15gb 3g. Does Anyone have any experience with these cans in this set up. I am going to search later to see if I can try them in town. One more thing all my music is encoded 128kps AAC files. I also wanted to know If the ipods are powerful enough to drive the grados.

The Slashdot Effect

Slashdot is one on the sites that I check about every ten minutes. It is home to all the news a geek could every want. It is like a geek water cooler with the comment system. See a story talk about it make fun of it bring insight to it. Thank god for slashdot. Even with google news sci/tech section I still check slashdot alot more than I should.
Speaking of sites I check alot I just discovered in a new build of camnio(mozilla based browser) it makes a top ten list of web sites
Postymama.easyjournal.com
Slashdot.org
apple.slashdot.org
google.com
hiptop.com
leoville.com
macnn.com
macintouch.com
maccentral.macworld.com
And my ROuter named geek router whose ip I will not pass out

SPeaking of camnio when in the hell are they going to put out .8 I mean I have been nightly build for months there is some really kick ass stuff. But I would like a new complete build. it was the 6 of march 03 when .7 came out where are coming up on a year with out an update out. I wonder what the problem is.

Speaking of new ideas for mozilla
They should add blogging software. That would be sweet mozilla mail already kicks ass but where is my blogging software.

Speaking of blogging software
What is going of at kung-foo
What is this ecto I like kung-log it works just fine but I will have to start useing ecto when blogger changes there api.

Speaking of blog integration
Apple should write blogging software.

Speaking of blogger
When are they going to bring back the features of blogger pro. I want an rss feed for my site.

Note I had Kung-log open for a few hours. This entry was not written all at one time. Thus is the reason for jumping around.

Sick Day

I am sick. I am so pissed Last night I vomited and kept coughing up stuff. And for those that do not know my father has a set of parameters for a sick day vomiting or fever or low peak flow. Well I vomited which means I was sent to bed. I was told if I felt good in the morning he may let me go in. Well I did not feel good so hear I am at home. Of course I am going to take this extra time to study for the final I missed French. Talk about fate. My team of Doc's said If I feel up to it I should go on the ski trip. They said they would really like me to leave the residence more often. Any opportunity should be taken to get a limited social life that exists in the real world. If I go I will probably just sit somewhere and read a book. I have a stack of which I want to read and that would be as good a time as any to crunch through them.

Studying

I do not know what I would do with out the internet. It helps me alot when studying. It is not that I have forgotten all I need is a clue to break down my stress barrier. I simply type the info I want into google. And If I find nothing I go and search wiki's then to library then I call a Liberian. I like libraries but have the largest collection of human knowledge a few pings away gives me a sense of peace. This is why I do not write virus because it would hurt my world. I live on the net. I have like steve jobs said ilife. I must get back to studying now. There are some thoughts I have that I have yet to tell anyone. I should but I am afraid. If you can figure out what such thoughts are I will tell the world. Use the comments system to post guess.
